When the distribution is based on rarity, booster packs usually contain one or two rares, depending on the game, while the remainder are of lesser rarity.
The average Yu-Gi-Oh card is worth $0.16 (USD). A new booster box of Yu-Gi-Oh cards will contain 60 or 100 cards, with those cards typically being grouped into Commons, Super Rares, Ultra Rares, and Secret Rares. Most cards will be worth somewhere from $0.1 to $200.
(You can tell if a card is 1st Edition by looking for text on the card that reads "1st Edition", which looks like this.) Monster cards also have stars above the artwork, and an attribute symbol in the top right.

Ultimate Rare (アルティメットレア Arutimetto Rea, often simply Ultimate, or unofficially Ulti) cards have an "embossed" foil on the Card Artwork, including the borders of artworks, Attribute icon, and on Monster Cards, the Level stars. The card name is printed gold, like an Ultra Rare.
1st Edition is an edition of cards in the TCG, Korean OCG, and Asian-English OCG that is marked by the text "1st Edition". Every Booster Pack is initially printed as 1st Edition for a limited period, after which they are replaced by Unlimited Edition prints.
Collector's Rare (コレクターズレア KorekutÄzurea), or simply Collector's, is a rarity introduced in the OCG's Collectors Pack: ZEXAL Version. It has the rainbow-colored reflective pattern of a Parallel Rare on Attribute, Level/Rank, Artwork, Lore Box Border and Card Border.
Secret Rares were discontinued after the Soul of the Duelist packs due to excessive use of electronic scales, however, they have been re-introduced in Strike of Neos. The odds of getting a Secret Rare in a Booster Pack was 1:31 before the release of The Shining Darkness, when the ratio changed to 1:23.
Ultimate Rare cards have a gold foil on the card name, as well as embossed foil accents on the card art, card border, and other parts of the card. Secret Rare cards have a rainbow-colored foil on the card name, and a sparkling holographic finish on the card art.
Special Edition refers to a Yu-Gi-Oh!Trading Card Game product that contains 3 Booster Packs and promotional variant cards. The Variant cards are either hard to get TCG cards or cards that were OCG exclusives.
Platinum Rare is a TCG-exclusive rarity which debuted in and is currently exclusive to the Noble Knights of the Round Table Box Set, where every card in the set is of this special rarity. On the Official Card Database, this rarity is unmarked.
Parallel Rare ( P パラレル R レア Parareru Rea, or simply Parallel) is a generic term, used to refer to cards where the entire card surface is holographic (that shows up as an even "haze" on most scans). Normal Parallel Rare: Also known as "Parallel Common."
Holofoil Rares were used for the cards in Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. They are akin to Super Rares, but have a coating very similar to Parallel Common cards. However, this coating has none of the consistent layout and texture of the usual Parallel coating.
