Great Whites get most of the headlines but Bull Sharks may be the most dangerous shark of them all. It has been recorded in 69 unprovoked attacks on humans but researchers believe the numbers may be higher because of the lack of easily identifiable markings.

How long does a shark live?
There's actually not much to it in terms of length. Tiger Sharks average around 10–14 feet and max out at just over 18 feet. Fully-grown White Sharks (their official name) often reach around 16 feet. They may grow to 20 feet or even more, although monsters that size are rare.
Tiger sharks are the second deadliest in the ocean and normally reach about 12 feet long. The longest on record used to be 15 feet. This gigantic creature, who Garza and her team named Kamakai, measured in at 18 feet based on their estimations -- larger than the boat used for the voyage.
They prefer shallow coastal water, which means they can often come into contact with humans. Bull sharks are often considered to be the most dangerous sharks to humans because of their aggressive tendencies and ability to migrate up rivers. However, shark attacks are extremely rare.
Whale Shark 41.5 feet (12.6m)Finally, the largest living shark is the Whale Shark, named for it's whale size and shape. Whale Sharks live around the tropical waters around the equator. Whale Sharks reach a massive 41.5 feet (12.6m) in length and can weigh around 33,000 pounds (15,000 kilos).
A nearly 20-foot-long shark named "Deep Blue," believed to be the largest great white on record, was filmed Tuesday in a rare sighting off the coast of Oahu, swimming right up to some divers. The 50-year-old beast is seen gliding through the water with its massive fins, flashing its razor-sharp teeth for the camera.
Use single barbless circle hooks. If your hooks are not barbless, flatten the barb with a pair of pliers. Use a hook remover for throat hooked sharks. If the shark has swallowed the hook, do not attempt to pull it out – this will cause serious damage and compromise the survival of the shark.
The rules for recreational fishing for shark species were changed recently. The combined daily bag limit for all species is five, with a limit of one per day for tiger, mako, blue, hammerhead and whaler shark species. A zero bag limit applies to wobbegong.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) allows recreational fishermen to take one shark per boat per trip in U.S. territorial waters; but the fish must have its "head, tail, and all fins naturally attached. The shark may be gutted and bled at sea."
Sharks need a rod that is capable of handling sustained pressure and can run heavy mono or braid at a minimum of 50 lbs breaking strain. Ideally you will have enough power in the rod so that the fight does not go on for too long, as in most states for the majority of shark species the fishing is catch and release only.
In Australia, most sharks can be legally caught by commercial and recreational fishers. Under the EPBC Act, it is an offence to kill, injure, take, trade, keep, or move any member of a listed threatened species on Australian Government land or in Commonwealth waters without a permit.
