DSP: Deputy Superintendent of Police
DSP stands for Deputy Superintendent of Police. It is a rank of a police officer in the police department in India. DSP is equivalent to Assistant Commissioner of Police and could be promoted to IPS after few years of service depending on the rules of state government.To become a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) you need to take the State Police service exam. These are taken at state level by respective State public service commissions. The candidates who clear the State PSC exam are made DSP. DSP officers generally become SP of police in around 8-10 years.

SP full form is Superintendent of Police (????? ???????). In India, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in large or metropolitan cities or Superintendent of Police (SP) in smaller cities is the head of the police force of a district.
The DSP career path begins with the Registration Level (DSP-Registered). As a DSP-Registered you will then be eligible to complete expert training in the key DSP competencies of empowerment, communication, planning, ethical practice and advocacy to become a fully certified Direct Support Professional (DSP-Certified).
While an SI will become Circle Inspector and gradually the DSP at the end of the career. Whereas, an officer joined as a DSP will be eligible for IPS. State Police Officers are confined to respective States only.
Thus some DSPs have jurisdiction over more than 12–15 police stations, whereas in Guwahati an ACP has usually 2 or 3 police stations.
The minimum height required for DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) post is "168cm". As far as my best knowledge is concerned, you are not eligible to apply for DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) post with 165 cms height.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are people who work directly with people with physical disabilities and/or intellectual disabilities with the aim of assisting the individual to become integrated into his/her community or the least restrictive environment.
DSP gets his pay in the pay scale 15600-39100 with a grade pay of Rs. 5400. The other benefits given to the DSP include: Residence for self and staff quarter at no cost or at nominal rent.
