Amazon announced on Wednesday that it would acquire 20,000 new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans for use in its new delivery program. The program, announced earlier this year, is designed to lessen the company's reliance on delivery mainstays like FedEx, UPS, and the US Postal Service.
In the release, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos said that Amazon is buying the electric vans from Mercedes-Benz in an effort "to build the most sustainable transportation fleet in the world."
