Is there a cost to download the "WatchESPN" app? WatchESPN is free. However, you must be a subscriber of AT&T U-Verse, BendBroadband, Bright House Networks, Charter, Comcast XFINITY, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, Optimum, Time Warner Cable or Verizon FIOS with the appropriate ESPN video/TV channel packages.
There's no native app for Vizio SmartCast, but you can watch ESPN+ via Chromecast, AirPlay or an external streaming device.
Sling TV is your cheapest option for an ESPN live stream. The Sling Orange plan gets you 34 networks including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and entertainment networks like A&E and TBS. That costs $30 per month.
Watching live ESPN channels will still require a paid TV subscription, whether from cable, satellite, or a live TV streaming service. The app acts as a gatekeeper by requiring users to sign in with their TV provider account to enable live viewing.
You can access ESPN+ via the existing ESPN app on a variety of streaming players, mobile devices, and smart TVs. It costs $5.99 per month or $49.99 annually. You can also bundle ESPN+ with Hulu and Disney+ for $12.99 a month.
Additionally, ESPN News can also be watched on your computer via ESPN.com, or on your phone, tablet or streaming device via the ESPN app. You'll need to log in to a cable provider to watch this way, but you can use your Hulu credentials to do that.
However, there are ways to watch “The Last Dance” if you don't have cable.
