There are two types of monitors depending how they are connected to speakers; those with builtin speakers and those without builtin speakers. Those with builtin speakers play sound without having the need to connect to external speakers. There are very few models of monitors with builtin speakers.
Monitor speakers are designed to provide a flat frequency response so that that the audio signal is reproduced faithfully, within the budgetary constraints of the speaker. As the producer you need to hear accurately what you are mixing, without the speaker adding its own color to the sound.
Configuring stereo speakers built into the monitor
- Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the back of the monitor, and connect the other end to the HDMI port on the back of the computer.
- After connecting the speaker or headphone cable, configure the sound settings using the steps in Setting the default sound device.

Johann Philipp Reis installed an electric loudspeaker in his ?telephone in 1861 and it could reproduce clear tones as well as reproduce muffled speech. Alexander Graham Bell patented his first electric loudspeaker capable of reproducing intelligible speech in 1876 as part of his telephone.
The wattage of your speaker is primarily determined by the diameter of the voice coil and the weight of the magnet. Generally a larger voice coil and heavier magnet can handle more power. Your amp set-up is generally most efficient when you match the wattage of your amplifier with the wattage of the speaker.
When there is no current, there is no magnetic field produced. Speakers are composed of a cone attached to an electromagnet, and a permanent magnet. Variations in electric charge induce changes in the electromagnetic field at the electromagnet and move the cone relative to the permanent magnet, producing soundwaves.
The “Voice Coil” is a coil of wire, typically aluminium or copper which the electrical audio signal flows. The voice coil sits in front of the stationary (fixed) magnet and is connected to the cone allowing amplification of the electromagnetic vibrations, releasing sound waves into the air.
The Spider fits around the speaker voice coil and is attached to the speaker basket. It is one of the components (along with the cone) that help to keep the voice coil centered in the magnetic gap and affects excursion (movement). It fits on top of the voice coil former or over it and attaches to the cone.
Loudspeakers are used in radios, audio players, Bluetooth speakers as well as many other areas. Loudspeakers have been used for many years to convert electrical signals into audio sound waves.
Metal Diaphragms. On the surface, it seems like Diamond or Beryllium would be the ideal obtainable material for a loudspeaker cone.
