Kentucky boasts some of the richest, most fertile soil in the country, ideal for growing the major ingredient in bourbon: corn. Bourbon must contain at least 51 percent corn, and Kentucky is up to the task. The state has been corn country since its earliest days in the late 1700s.

It is illegal to sell an alcoholic beverage to anyone under the age of 21. This includes adults of age 18, 19, and 20. An alcohol-licensed business may sell alcohol Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. until midnight. However, counties, cities, precincts may permit sales after midnight and on Sunday.
So when you talk about “whiskey,” you could be talking about scotch or rye whiskey or, of course, bourbon. The biggest difference between bourbon and whiskey production is the type of barrels in which the alcohol is aged. Bourbon must be aged in “new charred oak barrels,” according to the American Bourbon Association.
Is there a fee to visit the distilleries? Yes, all of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail distilleries charge a fee for a tour or a tasting. During our visit this ranged from $5 to $20 per person depending on the distillery and the type of tour you choose to take. Specialty tours cost more.
Kentucky also takes the top billing for wine taxes, adding an additional $3.56 per gallon to the price of wine which may play a role in making wine a little less appealing, and bourbon a little more.

You can buy several bourbons in the store at the distillery but nothing "rare" or collectible. Note: You CAN buy liquor at the distillery on Sundays! When you're buying a product at the distillery, you're actually buying it from a retail location set up at the distillery. Distilleries aren't allowed to sell directly to the consumer so there's generally not much difference in price from the liquor stores in the same area.
A Ohio prohibits ordering “spirituous liquor” (all intoxicating liquor over 42 proof or containing 21 percent or more alcohol by volume) over the Internet. To purchase a bottle of bourbon, for example, you must physically go to an Ohio State Agency Store.

The bottled-in-bond designation mandates that brands clear numerous rigorous hurdles. The spirit must be aged for at least four years and bottled at precisely 100 proof (50% abv). It must be made by one distiller at a single distillery in one season, then aged in a bonded warehouse.

Blanton's smells so good, you could probably create a line of candles with it! After 9 years in a barrel, the whiskey picks up some nice weight. The first sip has a medium heavy body that sticks to the tongue in a great way! Unlike younger bourbons, this is probably one of the smoothest bourbons you will ever have!
