The tradition of the Catholic Church highlights four basic elements of Christian prayer: (1) Prayer of Adoration/Blessing, (2) Prayer of Contrition/Repentance, (3) Prayer of Thanksgiving/Gratitude, and (4) Prayer of Supplication/Petition/Intercession.

In the King James Version of the Bible the text reads: But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
Although born in Bethlehem, according to Matthew and Luke, Jesus was a Galilean from Nazareth, a village near Sepphoris, one of the two major cities of Galilee (Tiberias was the other). He was born to Joseph and Mary sometime between 6 bc and shortly before the death of Herod the Great (Matthew 2; Luke 1:5) in 4 bc.
In the Christian Scriptures, there are three verses that take up the subject of unforgivable sin. In the Book of Matthew (12: 31-32), we read, "Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.

In prayer, Christians lift their minds and hearts to God. There are many different kinds of prayer, including: adoration - praising God for his greatness and admitting dependence on him. intercession - asking God to help others who need it, eg the sick, poor, those suffering in war.
Prayer in the Hebrew Bible is an evolving means of interacting with God, most frequently through a spontaneous, individual, unorganized form of petitioning and/or thanking. In these instances, such as with Isaac, Moses, Samuel, and Job, the act of praying is a method of changing a situation for the better.
They are sincere about getting free from sin and aren't justifying or arguing their case any longer. They are genuine and sincere about being more Christ-like. -*- Second, they want to clear themselves. This isn't paying for their own sin, they don't want to hide their sin but have it removed at all costs.
