If your pet is traveling to France alone from another EU country, it must travel from a licensed premises which is registered with the governing authority in your EU country responsible for the import and export of pets. Your veterinarian must obtain and update an EU Pet Passport for your pet.

France
- The animal must be at least 12 weeks old.
- Your pet must be identified by a microchip (standard ISO 11784 or annex A ISO standard 11785) or a tattoo.
- Your pet must have a valid rabies vaccination.
- You must get a health certificate from your veterinarian and endorsed by USDA.
Dogs, cats or ferrets are allowed on our ships, as long as they meet all the EU entry requirements and have a valid AHC or EU Pet Passport.

At the UK Pet Reception from 1st January 2021 you should also bring with you your pet's Animal Health Certificate and the pet reception referral hanger you will have been issued at check-in. An EU pet passport, issued in Great Britain, will be invalid to travel from UK to France from the 1st January 2021.
Dog passport application in 2020 costs £60+
In 2020, the cost for the official Pet Passport is £60, in the UK. This is a fixed cost. Though, some veterinary practises may add surcharges. Obtaining your dog's passport is a straight forward exercise and should take 30 minutes to an hour.You can stay in your car or get out and walk around. You can buy a pass to ride as a passenger (no vehicle). You will want to be back to your car before they actually are securing the ferry to the dock, but of course go up on deck or you will miss some very pretty scenery. You do pay for passengers too.
Pet passports can be issued within 24 hours Monday to Friday. However, after your pet has received their rabies vaccination, you must wait 21 days to travel. Most people allow ample time to get their pets a passport, but it can be obtained in around 3 weeks to a month if needed.
Pet animals may be allowed to travel on buses, ferries, light rail and in a taxi if it is confined in a box, basket or other container as required by the NSW Passenger Transport Act and regulations. However, permission is still required by staff or the driver.
You can get a pet passport from a vet authorised to issue them in Part 1 listed countries. If your vet does not issue pet passports, ask them for the nearest one that does or contact the Animal and Plant Health Agency. When you get a pet passport you'll need to take: your pet.
Dogs flying into the UK can only travel as cargo, not in the cabin or even as check-in baggage. But, there's no similar prohibition against dogs flying in the cabin or as check-in baggage on flights out of the UK to Spain!

Which UK airlines allow pets in cabin? The main 3 airlines that allow pets in the cabin are: KLM, Lufthansa and TUI. This only applies for very small pets that weigh less than 8kg and would have to be booked direct through the airline, without the assistance of a pet export company like Fetchapet.
