1. The book was inspired by Stephen King's own life. Stephen King's inspiration for Pet Sematary came quite clearly and directly from events in his own life. Shortly after the King family moved into the house, King discovered his daughter's cat dead by the side of the road, and they buried the pet in the cemetery.
Written on these in faded black paint, only just legible, were the words PET SEMATARY. King's spelling of cemetery as sematary is intentional—it is a use of realism, which is the practice in writing to accurately represent real life. In Middle English, the word was spelled cimitery.
Victor Pascow was a student at the University of Maine who suffered a fatal head injury after being struck by an automobile. He addresses his dying words personally to Louis by name, even though they have never met.
Louis, deeply disturbed, begins to wish that he hadn't buried Church there. Several months later, two-year-old Gage is killed by a speeding truck. Overcome with despair, Louis considers bringing his son back to life with the help of the burial ground.
Pet Sematary 1989 wins 3-2, and is the superior adaptation.
Before his death and eventual resurrection, Gage appears to be a typical toddler. His father tries to catch up to him but is too late – Gage is struck and killed by a speeding tanker truck. In his grief, Louis takes his son to the ancient burial ground introduced to him by Jud after their cat, Church, was killed.
In the original 1989 film and in Stephen King's Pet Sematary novel, Zelda was the sister of Rachel Creed who died from spinal meningitis when they were children.
He moves to a large house near the small town of Ludlow with his wife Rachel, their two young children, Ellie and Gage, and Ellie's cat, Winston Churchill “Church.†From the moment they arrive, the family runs into trouble: Ellie hurts her knee, and Gage is stung by a bee.
Pet Sematary had its most central scenes filmed in the towns of Hancock and Bangor in King's home state of Maine. The red-roofed, yellow-sided house where most of the film takes place is located at 303 Point Road in Hancock and still looks the same.
The fate of Ellie (Jeté Laurence) is one of the biggest changes from previous versions of “Pet Sematary.†Instead of Gage, they killed Ellie, who has begun asking her parents about death and is hit by a speeding truck on her ninth birthday.

Nope. Unfortunately this classic horror film isn't currently streaming on Netflix or Hulu.
The film ends on Gage, the last living member of the Creed family (a nice inversion from the book) who is locked in the car, just kinda chilling. Through the windshield, he sees the living corpses of his mother, father, and sister walking towards him. Just before the credits roll, Louis walks to Gage's window.
Finally, the 2019 version of "Pet Sematary" drew from its source material's lineage in both book and film form while altering one key plot detail, albeit with King's approval. On May 17, 2021, Deadline announced that a sequel to the recent "Pet Sematary" found a director.
In the book, Jud had only resurrected his dog, and not his wife, especially since there is an instance in the book of a father bringing back his adult son that Jud knows about that went horribly wrong that is alluded to in the movie from an old news article of a missing body.
Rachel manages to save her son by having him go through the window of the bedroom, but she is slowly stabbed to death by Ellie. In her dying breaths, Rachel begs Louis not to bury her in the Pet Sematary.
