Luke Bryan joins Blake Shelton's 'Voice' team. For the last 11 seasons on NBC's “The Voice,” Blake Shelton has made a habit of putting country music front and center. In season 12, Luke Bryan will help him do it.
The Voice fans can breathe a sigh of relief: this season's live shows will go on. The Voice will air live shows produced remotely beginning Monday, May 4, with the Top 17 artists and the four coaches — Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, Blake Shelton, and John Legend — all broadcasting from their homes.
The Knockouts
The artists each select their own song to perform individually, while their direct competitor watches and waits. They are vying for their coach's confidence and decision to take them to the live shows. Their coach will choose the winner and the artist not selected will be sent home. The night ended with the four-way Knockout that has been teased since the Battles. The four artists that the coaches saved during that round had to compete for the final spot in the Lives, which will start May 4.
At the end of the knockout rounds, the strongest members of each coach's roster proceed to the live stage shows. Some versions include steals. Like in the battle round, the opposing coaches can steal a contestant who was voted off by their own coach by pressing their button.
Finally, we'll get our first-ever four-way Knockout, in which the four artists the coaches saved in the Battle Rounds will duke it out and America will get to vote on which one of them will earn a spot in the Live Rounds.
Following a nationwide vote — and a real-time Instant Save faceoff — host Carson Day announced that this year's finalists are Micah Iverson (from Kelly Clarkson's team) Thunderstorm Artis (from Nick Jonas's team), CammWess (from John Legend's team), Todd Tilghman, and Toneisha Harris (both from Blake Shelton's team).
Team Nick. Jonas had the most to lose Tuesday, as he was the only coach with five remaining artists: Allegra Miles, Arei Moon, Michael Williams, Roderick Chambers and Thunderstorm Artis. Thunderstorm, who received the most votes, will continue to power through the competition.
Jake Hoot was crowned the winner of NBC's hit singing competition show, "The Voice" on Tuesday night.
In a shocker, Chicago singer Katie Kadan came in third place on Season 17 of “The Voice.” The Jefferson Park neighborhood resident had been the front-runner since she impressed all four celebrity judges on “The Voice” premiere in September. The win went to Tennessee singer Jake Hoot on Tuesday.
The remaining five singers – Megan Danielle (Team Clarkson), Allegra Miles (Team Jonas), Zan Fiskum (Team Legend), Toneisha Harris and Joanna Serenko (both from Team Shelton) – went head-to-head for the last spot in the finale.
The only thing that separated one of the top four finalists – Ricky Duran, Katie Kadan, Jake Hoot or Rose Short – from hoisting the "Voice" trophy was three final performances. Each artist was tasked with performing a cover, an original song and a holiday duet with their coach in honor of the Christmas spirit.
America's savesThunderstorm Artis from Team Jonas and CammWess from Team Legend advanced. The public vote also saved Team Shelton's Todd Tilghman.
At night's end, Team Blake's Toneisha Harris got the save from viewers after her performance of “Loving You” and she becomes the inaugural fifth finalist of the talent show, now in its 18th season. The unlucky four sent home were Joanna Serenko, Allegra Miles, Megan Danielle and Zan Fiskum.
