After his stellar work on the case (and a recovery, of course), Rigsby was offered a full-time position with the FBI, but he turned it down as the couple decided to leave the law enforcement life behind. Don't you love it when your favorite TV characters actually get a happy ending?!
The earlier dipped ratings couldn't be restored enough to stop CBS from pulling the plug on the show. The network even shortened the series finale season 7 to 13 episodes, while all the previous seasons had 20 episodes.
It's been 5 years since the show was cancelled but fans are still hopeful about the renewal status of 'The Mentalist'. With CBS rapidly moving on to other shows, the possibilities of a 'The Mentalist' Season 8 are slim to none. Renewal status of 'The Mentalist'hasn't been confirmed yet.

In the season 6 episode "Red John", the eponymous serial killer's identity is revealed to be Thomas McAllister, the sheriff of Napa County, portrayed by Xander Berkeley.
Continue at your own risk. Brett Partridge was a forensic investigator working for the CBI. His first appearance is in the Pilot, as an expert of Red John's crime scenes. He was one of the seven final people on Jane's List of Suspects that could be Red John and a favorite suspect among fans of the show.
Gale Bertram was the director of the CBI and a member of the Blake Association. He became the prime Red John suspect after Reede Smith was arrested, and the others were all presumed dead. In his final appearance in "Red John", he reveals that he is indeed not Red John.
In Laroche's Tupperware box is the tongue of the man who raped his mother for 2 hours straight, Scott Sanay(sp). The day before his trial, Laroche broke into his apartment while he slept, injected him with a sedative and cut out his tongue. According to the rapists mother Judith Sanay, "they never found his tongue."
Well then if you look back at this episode where Red John is in a house with a room full of pigeons or whatever, then you can probably conclude that he is not afraid of birds.
Despicable Nixonian President on 24! And then, Bosco, on his death bed, told the show's hero, con man-turned-trickster detective Patrick Jane, that if the carny Sherlock should ever catch Red John, he shouldn't arrest him, he should kill him. He whispered something into Patrick's ear and died.
Perhaps the most popular interpretation of the poem is that the tiger represents or symbolizes evil and fear, or an incarnation of either. The lamb (line 20) is thought to represent the opposite, goodness and innocence.
Red John was a psychopathic serial killerand so needed no "motive" as such. Red John's personality can be described as the classic example of a psychopath: narcissistic, with zero empathy towards others and a tendency to manipulate those around him.

It seems that Frye has been hypnotized by Red John into believing she is dead and has passed over to the spirit world. Kristina was the first date for Patrick since his wife's death.
In the episode "Red Velvet Cupcakes", Van Pelt and Rigsby go undercover as a couple with relationship problems. After the case is closed, they get back together. In "Wedding in Red", Rigsby proposes to her and she accepts; they are married later in the same episode.
She quits her job as a police chief to work with Jane for the FBI.
In the season 5 finale, Rigsby confirms with Cho that he and Van Pelt are back together. In the sixth season episode "Wedding in Red," Rigsby proposes to Van Pelt, who accepts; they are wed in the same episode.

Craig O'Laughlin is a major antagonist who appeared in The Mentalist, he was also an FBI agent and a recurring character in the series.
In the episode, Patrick Jane, now considered a fugitive, finally comes face-to-face with Red John, the serial killer he has hunted for ten years following the man's murder of Jane's wife and daughter.

Picking up two years after Jane caught and killed Red John, aka Sheriff Tom McAllister (Xander Berkeley), The Mentalist saw the former California Bureau of Investigation members scattered across the world following a departmental shutdown and an FBI takeover.
I liked to think Jane is running because, for the first time since his family was killed, for the first time since we met him, he is free. Check out our interview with Heller and Baker about the Red John episode. Jane didn't know he was meeting Red John, and sadly neither did anybody else involved in The Mentalist.
