When the keys on a keyboard don't work, it's usually due to mechanical failure. If this is the case, the keyboard needs to be replaced. Keys on the number pad are not working. Some keys aren't used in certain programs.
To enable FN Lock on the All in One Media Keyboard, press the FN key, and the Caps Lock key at the same time. To disable FN Lock, press the FN key, and the Caps Lock key at the same time again.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Keyboard. Check whether the “Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys” checkbox is checked. If it is check, uncheck it.
The f5 and f6 light up the led's in the keyboard. the f5 reduces the brightness and the f6 increases the brightness of the led's in the keyboard.
How to reset the SMC on Mac notebooks:
- Choose Apple menu > Shut Down and wait for your Mac to shut down.
- Press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the built-in keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
- Release all keys.
- Press the power button again to turn on your Mac.

If you are using Mac, the F4 key is usually used for system features, like opening up the launchpad application or changing the brightness of the screen. If you want to use F4 to play and pause audio in MAXQDA for Mac, you can find an option to do so in “System Preferences > Keyboard”.
All it takes to force a restart of a frozen MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is to press down on the Touch ID button until the device reboots. Sigh.
How to Use Your Mac's Function Keys

It's one simple keyboard shortcut; Command + R is the Safari equivalent to F5 in a Windows browser. Note that if you want to refresh a webpage in Safari without loading cache, you can use Command+Option+R, or hold down the Shift key and then click the refresh button, or you can empty the Safari cache.
To access it on Windows 10 or 8.1, right-click the Start button and select “Mobility Center.” On Windows 7, press Windows Key + X. You'll see the option under “Fn Key Behavior.” This option may also be available in a keyboard settings configuration tool installed by your computer manufacturer.
That's probably due to an extra option in the BIOS made by the manufacturer. When booting press F2 (usually) to get into the BIOS settings and there you can revert back to function keys instead of multimedia. Have you tried to press the numbers lock key to change the fn keys functions?
