The toll in Italy is usually payable at toll stations with barriers. If you are driving without a Telepass, you must take a ticket at the entrance to the motorway, store it carefully and, at the exit, present it again for the calculation of the toll in order to pay the amount due by credit card, ViaCard or cash.
Except when posted otherwise, the following speed limits apply all across Italy: 130 kmph (80 mph) is the speed limit on highways in Italy. 110 kmph (68 mph) is the speed limit on non-major highways outside of major urban areas in Italy. 90 kmph (56 mph) is the speed limit on local roads in Italy.

If you receive a toll notice, you can either:
- Use an electronic account to pay: contact the toll road operator and transfer the notice to your account, and pay the toll plus a $1.10 transfer fee.
