U.S. Winter Weather Forecast 2020-2021We're predicting a light winter for most of us here in the United States, with warmer-than-normal temperatures in the forecast for a large part of the country. Uncommonly chilly temperatures will be limited mostly to the western states and northeastern New England.
One of the reasons we see this pattern develop during June is the annual northward progression of the jet stream. It acts like a steering mechanism for systems from the Pacific as they move eastward. Another contributing factor to June's wet weather is the foothills and mountains of the Canadian Rockies.
Calgary has a prairie-steppe type climate. This means it usually enjoys sunny weather, even in winter, and most of its little rainfall comes in summer. The summer rain is vital for the wheat and grass grown on the prairies.
The reason for the ominous weather is simple: location, location, location. Calgary is sandwiched between high elevation winds from the mountains, cold winds from the north and humidity from the south. It's the perfect recipe for serious storms.

2021 United States Spring Weather Forecast – Soaked Spring Ahead! According to our long-range outlook, spring 2021 will be mild and wet for most parts of the country, with plenty of thunderstorms, especially over the central and eastern states during late April.
Each year, the equinox is expected to take place either on March 20 or 21, but in 2020, the entire U.S. will experience the equinox on March 19. This shift in timing comes from the uneven amount of days fitting into a calendar year.
So March would be early spring, April mid spring and May late spring.
Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this year. As the legend goes, that means six more weeks of winter weather lay ahead; no shadow indicates an early spring. According to the Groundhog Club's records, the various incarnations of Punxsutawney Phil have predicted 104 forecasts of more winter and 20 early springs.
Summer will be hotter than normal, with the hottest periods in late July and mid-August. Rainfall will be below normal in the east and above normal in the west. September and October will be warmer than normal, with below-normal precipitation.
March 2021 outlook: A warm start to meteorological spring for the central and eastern United States. For the central/eastern United States, a warmer-than-average month is forecast, with a higher likelihood for drier conditions across the southern United States into the western Plains.

November 2020 to October 2021. Winter will be cooler and drier than normal, with below-normal mountain snows. The coldest temperatures will occur in late December, late January, and mid- to late February.
Summer 2020 is expected to be near average or hotter across the Lower 48, according to the latest outlook issued by The Weather Company, an IBM Business. This summer is also expected to be warmer than last year for the contiguous United States.
According to the extended forecast in the 2021 Farmers' Almanac, summer should be stormy, with a greater-than-average frequency of thunderstorms for a large portion of the country. Portions of the Central and Southern Rockies and Great Plains could also experience higher-than-normal thunderstorm activity.
