Try praying those words or sounds that seem to pop into your head. This is a form of internal discovery that allows you to add to your prayer language vocabulary and expand your ability to speak in tongues. These may be the words that God flows through your spirit and which result in your speaking in tongues.

For Southern Baptists, the practice, also known as glossolalia, ended after the death of Jesus' apostles. The ban on speaking in tongues became a way to distinguish the denomination from others. These days, it can no longer afford that distinction.

In modern times, speaking in tongues was an occasional occurrence in Roman Catholicism, Anglicanism, Lutheranism, and other more-established Christian denominations. It was also present in many non-Christian traditions.
Local churches practicing 'speaking in tongues' describe it as a personal experience. It's a practice they use at Shekijah Preparation Assembly in Lynchburg called speaking in tongues. They describe it as a spiritual language gifted from God. Some Christians believe it is the Holy Spirit speaking directly through them.
