Unfortunately for the many vegetarians that probably eat cheese regularly, not all cheeses are vegetarian. Some cheeses, like basic Parmesan, use an enzyme called rennet that is found in the stomach lining of goats and calves. They use vegetable rennet or microbial enzymes, making them safe for vegetarians to consume.

In respect to this, can vegetarians eat rennet?
