Bell to increase internet plans by $3 to $6 for some customers starting March 2021. Bell has announced its near-yearly price adjustment. At the beginning of November, the Quebec-based carrier notified some customers of an internet rate increase of $3 to $6 depending on their plan.
Without the inflation adjustment, the average household Internet price rose from $36.48 in 2016 to $46.38 in 2019, an increase of 27 percent. The nominal increase in each of the three years was between 7.27 percent and 9.94 percent, while inflation each year ranged from 1.81 percent to 2.44 percent.
TekSavvy says the CRTC's wholesale rates decision is the reason for the price hike. In the August 2019 decision, the CRTC found that incumbents had overstated the cost of maintaining networks to inflate the wholesale rates.
Services. While TekSavvy operates primarily by connecting its service to network access ("last mile" infrastructure) from Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Shaw, Telus and Vidéotron, the service differs in terms of pricing and features according to the network access platform to which it is connected.
TekSavvy is a Canada-wide telecom company that offers budget Internet plans for as low as $38.95 per month. You won't need to sign on to a contract to get started, and any additional fees you need to pay will be clearly communicated to you before you sign up.
