Freed began distribution of a new line of Hondo guitars produced in India, China and Taiwan. In 1993, the revamped company was relocated to Stuart, Florida.
Samick became the near-exclusive manufacturer of Epiphones (save for a few special models) until the mid-1990s, when Epiphone began contracting out to a number of different manufacturers. Samick makes excellent pianos at a very good value. Some of the "brands" they make may or may not come close to the same feel, tone, and touch of your Yamaha. I wouldn't hesitate in considering one, but would definitely have a technician look at it before committing to buy used.
