Tether by Bluetooth
- Pair your phone with the other device.
- Set up the other device to get its network connection by Bluetooth. Follow the instructions that came with the device.
- Open your phone's Settings app.
- Tap Network & internet. Hotspot & tethering.
- Tap Bluetooth tethering.
Although most modern wireless cards come with it, some still don't. Bluetooth is great for connecting wireless peripherals and other devices to your computer. Like WiFi, Bluetooth has multiple versions available , with the most current version being 4.0, also known as Bluetooth LE (low energy).
Sharing a connection this way is called tethering or using a hotspot. Some phones can share Wi-Fi connection by tethering. Most Android phones can share mobile data by Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB.
The main difference is that Bluetooth is primarily used to connect devices without using cables, while Wi-Fi provides high-speed access to the internet. Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard that is used to exchange data over short distances (less than 30 feet), usually between personal mobile devices.
Use Android Phone as a Modem via Wi-Fi hotspot:
Step 1. Connect your phone to Computer with the USB cable >>> Press the “Home” button and then go to in phone “Menu” >>> then go to “Settings” after that “Wireless & Networks section” and then click on “Tethering & Portable Hotspot”.WiFi speakers connect to your home network; they usually run on AC power, so they require an outlet. Highlight the icon that represents your computer's Bluetooth adapter and the icon that represents you computer's Wi-Fi adapter using your mouse cursor. Right-click on either of these two highlighted icons and click "Bridge Connections" to allow your Wi-Fi adapter to work with your Bluetooth adapter.
Bluetooth vs. Wi-Fi. Bluetooth and WiFi are different standards for wireless communication. Wi-Fi is better suited for operating full-scale networks because it enables a faster connection, better range from the base station, and better wireless security (if configured properly) than Bluetooth.
How to Tether an Internet Connection with an Android Phone
- Connect the phone to a computer or laptop by using the USB cable. The best success with this operation is when the computer is a PC running Windows.
- Open the Settings app.
- Choose More, and then choose Tethering & Mobile Hotspot.
- Place a check mark by the USB Tethering item. Internet tethering is activated.

Connect the USB cable that shipped with your phone to your computer, then plug it into the phone's USB port. Next, on your Android device, open Settings > Network & internet > Hotspot & tethering. Go to the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Click the Network and Internet category and then select Networking and Sharing Center. From the options on the left-hand side, select Change adapter settings. Right-click on the icon for Wireless Connection and click enable.
