When you're in S Mode, you can only set Edge as your default browser and Bing as your default search engine. So, if you want to use another browser (like Chrome or Firefox), or you want to download an app that isn't on the Microsoft Store, you might want to switch out of S Mode.
Since Chrome is not a Microsoft Store app, hence you can't install Chrome. If you want to install an app that isn't available in the Microsoft Store, you'll need to switch out of S mode. Switching out of S mode is one-way. If you make the switch, you won't be able to go back to Windows 10 in S mode.
Because it's easy and free to leave S Mode, there's no downside to buying a Windows 10 PC that comes with S Mode. Even if you don't want S Mode, you can easily switch out of it. For example, Microsoft only sells the Surface Laptop in S Mode.
The Disadvantages of Windows 10 S Mode:

Google Chrome won't be allowed on Windows 10 S. Microsoft's newest Windows 10 edition is designed to allow desktop apps that have been converted to packages for the Windows Store. But a provision in the store's policies blocks desktop browsers like Chrome.
The big difference between Windows 10 S and any other version of Windows 10 is that 10 S can only run applications downloaded from the Windows Store. Every other version of Windows 10 has the option to install applications from third-party sites and stores, as has the majority of versions of Windows before it.
The new Edge browser, built on the same open source code as Google Chrome, contains a new Tracking Prevention feature that blocks third-party trackers and, at the Strict setting, many ads. On January 15, 2020, Microsoft is scheduled to roll out a completely revamped Edge browser to the general public.

This warning doesn't affect the ability to install Chrome extensions on Microsoft Edge, rather just warning users against the practice.
S Mode is a more locked down mode for Windows. While in S Mode, your PC can only install apps from the Store. This means you can only browse the web in Microsoft Edge—you can't install Chrome or Firefox. However, for people who can get by with just applications from the Store, S Mode may be helpful.

Open Microsoft Edge. In the address bar at the top, type google.com/chrome/browser/ then press enter. Select Download Chrome. Carefully read the Terms of Service, then select Accept and Install.
