Halo 2 does not have any bot AI in split screen multiplayer.
' Enter the e-mail address and password of whatever profile you have that has Xbox Live Gold. It will download all your achievements, and the like. Sign into your account first, then jump onto Halo 4. From there, you should have no problem logging in a guest for online multiplayer.
Offline play is possible on the Steam version. Just need to login once to your Microsoft account online before you can do so.

Yes, you can. Go to the section to the right of Matchmaking (should be called Custom Games), and select Halo CE. You can then sign in up to four controllers/profiles and play splitscreen, as well as select what map/gametype you want to play.

It's possible to play offline on Steam or Microsoft Store if you don't have Internet or you don't want to play with other players (not sure about it, cause I don't use it) but you have to download and launch the game on either Steam or the Microsoft Store. These are the only legal option to play Halo Reach on PC.
If you buy it on Steam, you can play Reach without buying the whole thing. you only have to download the MCC version but, only Reach is playable.
You can play Firefight offline, by yourself, should you choose to. Just like how you can go to a custom game offline with you and the wind.

Yes. Halo Reach is a standalone game, and if that's the one you want to play, then you can buy only Halo Reach. The other Master Chief Collection is the launcher through which all Halo games are executed. It's free, and included with the purchase of any Halo game.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection will add support for cross-platform multiplayer later in 2020, developer 343 Industries announced, allowing those on Xbox One and Windows PC to play with each other. Crossplay and input-based matchmaking aren't the only upcoming features planned for 2020.
