Eligible library books are available in the United States through a digital service called OverDrive. Confirm whether your library branch participates and offers Kindle books. Get a library card and a PIN from your local library. Go to the website of your local public library and search for "Kindle books" or "eBooks."
Make sure that your Kindle is connected to the internet. Sync your Kindle from Settings. Turn off any filters on your home screen or change to another view. Restart your Kindle.
When you find a book that you would like to borrow follow the steps to borrow it, and then select the option "Read on a Kindle". It will look like an Amazon purchase button. You will be directed to an Amazon page and should click the "Borrow Library Book" button.

Do purchased Kindle books expire? Once the lending period for a Kindle Book ends, it will expire and automatically return to your library (you can also return it early if you'd like). Expired Kindle Books still appear on your Kindle device or reading app but can't be opened.
Open the Amazon Kindle Store or your device and from the Settings menu select Lending Library. Select the book you'd like to borrow and tap Press Borrow for Free. Then the book you borrowed will appear in your library. It's returned in the same way as books and magazine borrowed from Prime Reading.
You can hide your entire library. Make sure you are connected to the internet, then scroll down to the bottom and click on “collection”. Then click “hide” and it's gone. If you want to hide only certain books use the toggle or rocker button on the right.
While you can get online to see the OverDrive website from your Kindle Paperwhite, you won't be able to find books compatible for your Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite as you will if you browse OverDrive from the internet on a computer.

Public library e-books for Kindle e-readers are presently available only in the United States. Installing the OverDrive app on a Kindle Fire
- From the Home Page of your Kindle Fire, select the Apps tab.
- In the Apps menu select the Store button in the upper right hand corner.
- Use the search box at the top of the screen to search for OverDrive.
- Tap Download.
- Once the app downloads, it will be located on your Apps bookshelf.
Share eligible Kindle books for up to 14 days with your friends or family. During the loan period, you're not able to read the loaned book. Select the Actions button then select Loan this title on your eligible title. Enter the recipient's personal email address and optional message then select Send.
You can read Kindle books on a PC by downloading the Kindle for PC app or using the Kindle Cloud Reader. Kindle books can only be read in the official Amazon Kindle app, on a Kindle device, or via the Kindle Cloud Reader.

In my mind, it's totally worth it. The battery lasts forever, the screen has an adjustable backlight for night reading, it's much easier to carry around than carrying 2 or 3 books, plus you can put tons on it. - Open iTunes on your computer.

- Drag and drop the ePub file onto your Library in iTunes on your computer.

read an
EPUB ebook on
Kindle or in your
Kindle app, there are a two steps involved.
To create the Kindle file:
- open Kindle Previewer on your PC and convert the EPUB ebook into a MOBI ebook file format.
- open Kindle for PC and open the saved MOBI ebook file on your computer.
- add the ebook to your Kindle Library.
