Through the Sidecar app, you can use the iPad as an external monitor for your Mac. This story is part of WWDC 2021. The iPad will be able to connect to the Mac both wirelessly and with a cable, and Sidecar offers Apple Pencil support. Apple's Sidecar app for MacOS Catalina lets you use your iPad as a second screen.
Can you use any monitor with a Mac mini? The Mac mini doesn't come with a monitor, but you can connect it to one using one of the ports on the back of the device. Using the right adapter, you can connect the Mac Mini to any computer screen with a VGA port.
Most iPads don't even have HDMI output ports. An iPad Pro can output full HDMI over Type-C, but it can't act as an HDMI sink/display. But the Lightning port is not fast enough for uncompressed digital video.
You cannot directly connect the laptop to your Mac Mini like a traditional monitor with a VGA or HDMI port. Instead, you must configure wireless screen sharing. This feature allows you to remotely control a Mac Mini from your laptop as long as the computers are both on the same network.
On an iPad, or an X-series iPhone, swipe down from the top-right corner; on other devices swipe up from the bottom of the screen. In iOS 11 or later, you should now tap Screen Mirroring, then select Apple TV. (If you're still using iOS 10, tap AirPlay, then select Apple TV.)

To use your iPad as a second display, you'll need to install the SplashTop app on your iPad and on your desktop. SplashTop is primarily a remote-access tool — it lets you use your Windows desktop from your iPad remotely for a subscription. But it also offers a screen mirroring mode for free.
All you need to do is download the iOS version on your iPhone or iPad and the macOS version on your Mac computer, which works as a client app. Then, on your Mac, go to the System Preferences app and allow the El Trackpad app to use the Accessibility features. El Trackpad is available on the App Store as a trial app.
