What Is the Most Hyper Dog Ever?
- Jack Russell Terrier. The Jack Russell terrier was originally bred as an English fox hunter and was named after the Rev. Jack Russell.
- Siberian Husky. Originally from the Chukchi tribe off the Siberian peninsula, the Siberian husky was bred to pull sleds and herd reindeer.

Dogs at this age have mostly passed their puppyhood, although giant breed dogs are often considered puppies until two years of age. Dogs between one to two years act and appear mature and fully-grown. They may still love to play, but should have a solid grasp on your commands and cues.
Canine Adolescence
Just like human beings, dogs enter into transitory periods of adolescence, although they come a lot faster and oftentimes seemingly out of nowhere for the latter species. When your puppy is anywhere between 6 and 18 months in age, he may enter a rebellious stage.Jumps on you when you come in the door:
- Keep greetings quiet and low-key.
- If your dog jumps on you, ignore them. Turn and go out the door.

As a general rule, dogs mature to full-size around 12 to 18 months, with some large breeds taking up to two years. When a dog matures does factor into when the dog begins to calm down -- but dogs of many breeds don't calm down when they become adults.
As time goes by, most pups will learn to settle and calm down. Even energetic dogs like pit bulls will do that. By the time they reach maturity, they'll be calmer than when they are pups. This will be around 12 to 18 months.

You will see them begin to calm when they reach 24 months but really calm fully when they reach the ages of four and five. If you can make it through the first two years of your rottweiler's hyper stage, the need for calming should be downhill from there.

One of the side effects of Benadryl is drowsiness, which helps to calm anxious dogs. The Merck Veterinary Manual states that diphenhydramine may relieve symptoms of mild-to-moderate anxiety in pets associated with travel. Benadryl makes an excellent addition to your pet emergency kit.
The standard dosage for oral Benadryl is 1 mg per pound of body weight, given 2-3 times a day. Most drug store diphenhydramine tablets are 25 mg, which is the size used for a 25 pound dog. Always double check the dosage before giving an over the counter medication.
