Newton had college football stints at Florida and Blinn before joining Auburn, where he won the Bowl Champion Series National Championship and Heisman Trophy in 2010. He is one of four African-American quarterbacks to win NFL MVP and was the first to solely receive it.
The teams were the Oklahoma Sooners and the LSU Tigers. The Tigers won the BCS National Championship, their second national championship in school history, defeating the Sooners by a score of 21–14.

Aubie the Tiger. Aubie, Auburn University's tiger mascot, is in his 37th season as a spirit leader and goodwill ambassador for Auburn University. He's a nine-time UCA National Champion, the most of any mascot, and the first to be inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame.
SEC members won seven national championships in 2020–21: Alabama in football, Arkansas in women's indoor track & field, Florida in men's tennis, Kentucky in rifle and women's volleyball, Mississippi State in baseball, and Ole Miss in women's golf.

Early life. Jackson, the eighth of ten children, was born on November 30, 1962, and raised in Bessemer, Alabama. Jackson hit twenty home runs in 25 games for McCalla's baseball team during his senior season. He was a two-time state champion in the decathlon.
In six years as head coach at Auburn, Gus Malzahn has led the Tigers to a 53-27 record, six consecutive bowl game, a Southeastern Conference Championship, two SEC West Division titles and an appearance in the BCS National Championship Game (
