International degree-seeking applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic scores for admission to the Purdue University Graduate School.
Cornell does not accept PTE Academic scores or any other alternatives. An application cannot be considered for admission until Cornell receives official IELTS Academic or TOEFL scores.

The registration cost for the TOEFL iBT varies from country to country, and sometimes even from testing center to testing center. The test fee can be anywhere from 160-250 USD, but in most places it's around $200.
Remember that the Verbal and Quantitative portions of the GRE are scored between 130–170, and the average score falls somewhere around 150-152. The Analytical Writing section of the GRE is scored between 0 and 6 in half-point increments, and the average hits somewhere around 3.5.
However, compared to the GRE, the TOEFL has easier Reading and Writing questions. Both the GRE and TOEFL test reading and writing skills, but those questions on the GRE tend to be more challenging and require more skills in critical reading, analyzing an argument, and developing your own argument.
TOEFL scores are accepted in over 130 countries including the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany and widely accepted in Canada.
The TOEFL or IELTS is not the only standardised test you may be required to take before acceptance into the university of your choice. You will likely have to take either the GMAT (Graduate Management Admissions Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Examinations) for entry into post-graduate business programmes.
GRE AWA is harder than IELTS. The GRE's issue topic has a 30-minute time limit, and successful responses are usually 500-600 words long. In contrast, IELTS Writing Task 2 has a 40-minute time limit, with a recommended word count of 250-300 words.
GRE Scores and Scholarships. Scholarships based on scores of GRE and TOEFL are very less. However, you need to score at least above 165 in the quantitative and verbal part of GRE, 4.5 in writing skills part of GRE and above 110 in TOEFL to get a scholarship.
For these students, there are several universities in the USA that ease up on the minimum English language requirement so that eligible international students may enroll. In such universities, TOEFL/IELTS scores are not compulsory for admission.

The minimum required total TOEFL scores range from 45-100 for different schools, with many schools requiring scores from 70-80. This is below the average TOEFL score from the 2015 data, which means that even a score that's not “good” based on average scores can be enough to get you into many schools.
112 is an excellent score. You would be able to use that score for probably 99% of programs requiring TOEFL scores. The only exception would be if you scored below 26 on the speaking section, since some programs require that speaking score.
Here are some things you can do to have a good shot at that 100 TOEFL iBT score.
- Build a Strong Base of Academic English Ability.
- Get Feedback and Guidance From Native English Speakers (or highly skilled non-native speakers)
- Know the Test Itself, Inside and Out.
A 105 iBT TOEFL score is a very competitive score. In regard to English-language ability, a 105 indicates you are great, though not perfect, at English.
