Android TV is developed by Google and can be found on many devices, including smart TVs, streaming sticks, set-top boxes, and more. Web OS, on the other hand, is a Linux-based operating system made by LG. It is available only on the company's range of smart TVs.
SmartDNS on LG TV
- Turn On your LG Smart TV and Press Settings on your remote.
- From this settings menu scroll down to Network and Select Network Connection.
- Make sure that your LG Smart TV is connected to LAN or Wireless network.
- Select Your Network and then Select Other Network List.
- Select Set Expert Button.
If you see the Internet TV option on-screen
- Select Internet TV from the Home screen.
- Select Netflix.
- Select Sign In.? If you do not see Sign In, select Yes on the Are you a member of Netflix?
- Enter your Netflix email address and password and select Sign In.
Contrary to what some may think, a VPN can work with a smart TV. Although, most smart TVs don't natively support VPNs. This means you'll need a VPN that can be configured on your router or that can enable you to create your own protected wifi hotspot through your computer.
Press the Home/Smart button on your remote to bring up your launcher. Click the More Apps Button. Open the LG Content Store App. Find your app in the LG Content Store, then choose Install.
After registering your DDNS hostname, you're ready to configure your LG Smart TV with ExpressVPN's MediaStreamer server address. To find the ExpressVPN MediaStreamer address, make sure you've signed in to your ExpressVPN account. Select Set Up ExpressVPN, then navigate to the MediaStreamer section.
Unfortunately, there is no way to directly install ExpressVPN on LG TV or even establish a VPN connection on the LG TV. This is because ExpressVPN is mainly designed for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android devices.
Most smart TVs don't support it either, with the exception of Android-based TVs. If you have an Android TV, you can download the native NordVPN app for it. This way, your smart TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, or video game console will have a VPN connection from your router.

How to install a VPN on most Smart TVs
- First of all, sign up for a suitable VPN.
- Next, search for your VPN in the Google Play Store and install its app.
- Log in and connect to a server in the required country.
- Finally, open the region-locked app you'd like to use and play a video.

Enter the DNS server you wish to use, then select Connect.
- Press the Settings button on your remote.
- Select Network, then Network Connection.
- Select Start Connection.

- Select your network again, then select Set Expert.
- At the bottom, select Manual Input, then enter your DNS servers.
To enable the VPN feature:
- Launch an Internet browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router's network.
- The user name is admin.
- Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > VPN Service.
- Select the Enable VPN Service check box and click Apply.
- Specify any VPN service settings on the page.
Press the HOME button on the remote control. Select the Google Play Store app in the Apps category. NOTE for Android™ 8.0 Oreo™: If Google Play Store is not in the Apps category, select Apps and then select Google Play Store or Get more apps.
Is VPN illegal in UAE? Article 1 of Federal Law No. The change does not make using a VPN on its own illegal.
Some Smart TVs support VPN (most Android sets do.) In this case you can connect to a VPN directly: Open the Google Play Store on your TV. Search for your VPN provider's app and install it.
Samsung TV's don't use the Android/Google OS, so you wouldn't be able to download apps on the Google Play Store. As @Zakaria_E suggested, you can download apps that are compatible with your TV via the Smart Hub.
1.By Setting Up a Connection through Your PC
- Click on Start>Control Panel>Network and Sharing Centre>Change Adapter Settings.
- After doing this, an option called “TAP-Win32 Adaptor V9 here if your VPN is using OpenVPN.”
- Then right-click on it and choose Properties>Sharing Tab.
How to watch Netflix on your smart TV with Android TV devices
- Install the Netflix app from the Google Play Store.
- Install a VPN app from the Google Play Store.
- Use the VPN app to connect to a VPN server in the US.
- Press the Home button on your remote to exit the VPN app while it is still running.
From the TV's Home screen, navigate to and select APPS, and then select the Search icon in the top-right corner. Next, enter the app you want to download and select it. Note: Only apps available in the App store can be installed on the smart TV.
Setting up Chromecast with a VPN when a router is ready
- Connect the VPN to a US server.
- Connect the device you use to set up and control Chromecast to the Wi-Fi network that's now VPN-protected.
- Setup your Chromecast if you haven't done so.
- At the “Connect Chromecast to your Wi-Fi” step, select the VPN network.
Chromecast is the wireless technology developed by Google that can be used to watch content wirelessly from your iPhone with any LG Smart TV. Once installed, the installed chromecast icon will appear in supported apps.
Here are the steps for using this feature.
- Turn on the LG Smart TV.
- Open a compatible app (YouTube or Netflix) on your Android phone.
- Tap the Cast icon at the top of the screen of the chosen app, then tap the LG Smart TV as the device you want to Cast to.
To start casting from the Oculus app:
- Open the Oculus app on your phone.
- Select from the top right of your screen.
- Under Cast From, select the headset you'd like to cast from.
- Under Cast To select This Phone.
- Tap Start at the bottom of your screen, put on your headset and accept the in-VR prompt to start casting.
First, click “Install,” then choose your Android TV from the dropdown menu and click “Install.” Alternatively, turn on voice commands on your remote and say “Launch Chrome.” Your smart TV will ask you if you want to install the app; click “Agree” and Chrome will be installed and ready to use in a few seconds.
Press the Smart button on the included remote to access the Smart Home menu. From there, the LG Smart TV will take you through a setup wizard. Follow the onscreen prompts to connect to your home's Wi-Fi and your cable box. Once connected, you'll be able to access online videos, apps and more.
To cast iPhone to LG TV, go to your iPhone's Control Center. Then, tap Screen Mirroring. Select the TV's name once it has been detected. Your iPhone will then be mirrored to your TV thereafter.
LG TVs are equipped with innovative features that make it easy to share screen and display content between your external devices like your PC, tablet, smartphone and more. Note: AirPlay is only supported from Mac device to Mac device.
This app allows you to connect your Windows computer to your LG smart TV: Select the App List option. Select the Device Connector icon. Press OK on the remote.
- Click Project.
- Click Connect to a wireless display.
- Click the LG smart TV's name.
- Enter the code that's displayed on your TV screen if prompted.
- Click Connect.
