Payments can be sent from your account in two ways: electronic funds transfer or a paper check. Working with companies who will accept electronic payments can create a seamless online payment arc. Online bill pay services can also usually cut and mail a check in situations where electronic payments are not accepted.
The delivery method is how we send a bill payment to your payee. We either send your payment electronically or by mailing a check. We'll only mail a check if the payee isn't set up to receive electronic payments (typically smaller businesses or individuals).

This refers to the date on which your payment will be delivered to the beneficiary's bank. For example, if the settlement date is same day, and your payment is received before the cut-off time, then it will be with your beneficiary's bank the same day.

How online bill pay works is pretty simple: You enter a person or company you want to pay and the service sends your funds electronically or prints out a paper check and mails it to the payee. You can receive, view, and pay an unlimited number of bills for up to a year in advance of the due date on one web site.
An eCheck (or electronic check) is an electronic version of a paper check used to make payments online. Anyone with a checking account can pay by eCheck through CitePayUSA. To make a payment with an eCheck, you simply provide the following information: Your bank routing number*
Follow the instructions below to correctly setup your account to pay by ECheck.
- Sign in to your account.
- Visit or click “ECheck Accounts” under the “My Account” tab.
- You will be directed to this screen:
- Click on “Create a new ECheck account”, as shown in green.
Simply fill out a check, paid to the order of the other person or “cash.” Either you or your intended recipient will then need to deposit the check into their bank account.
- Your recipient will need to sign up and enter their details to get the money.
- It's only for transfers inside of the US — except for PayPal.

To send a check to someone (or a company) using Bank of America:
- Go to "Bill Pay Center" under the "Bill Pay" tab.
- Create a new "Pay To" account by typing in their first and last name under "Pay an Individual."
- Fill out their address and any other information.
ACH, or Automated Clearing House, is the process used to move money electronically from one bank account to another. An eCheck is an abbreviation of the term “electronic check,” and is more of a payment instead of a process. These electronic checks are now being used to replace traditional paper checks.
An electronic check is a form of payment where a customer's funds are transferred into a merchant's account over the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network. To process such payments, a trader requires an eCheck processing, through which payments made by eChecks can be withdrawn directly from the client's bank account.

Chase Temporary Checks
Counter checks are temporary checks that can be printed at select Chase branches. You'll pay $2 for a sheet of three checks. Make sure to call ahead first to see if your Chase branch has temporary checks available.Ordering checks
You can order checks by signing in to your account on chase.com and selecting "Order checks & deposit slips" from the "Things you can do" menu. For business accounts: You can order checks on the Deluxe website, or by calling 1-888-560-3939. Make sure you know your routing/transit and account numbers.You can print your own checks with almost any printer: inkjet, laserjet, even offset printers. Some check printers have special features that boost the security of your checks, like watermarks and even thermochromatic ink—but you can use any basic home-office printer, too.
Counter checks are checks that you get at a bank branch, usually from a teller or a personal banker. They're also handy if you run out of checks and you need a check quickly. Banks print your account information on counter checks, so they work just like regular checks.

Most online banks (banks without actual brick and mortar locations) will offer free checks with their checking accounts. They can afford to do this because they have less overhead costs and expenses. If you really want free checks, simply open an account with an online bank.
Chase Check Writing Process
- Date – In the top right corner, you will need to fill out the date.
- Pay to the order of – This is where you write down the name of the person or organization that will be receiving the check.
- Money Box – This field indicates the amount to be paid to the recipient.
In the Chase Mobile® app, choose “Deposit Checks” in the navigation menu and select the account. Deposits submitted before 11 PM Eastern time on a business day generally will be available by the next business day. Deposits submitted after 11 PM or on a non-business day will be processed the next business day.
Funds Availability
Some banks make a portion of the check available immediately or within one business day. For example, your bank might make $150 or $200 of a $500 check available immediately, or within one business day of the deposit, and make the balance of the check available in two days.For most banks, the cut-off time is around 5 p.m. at a branch location. Note: Even though a bank may be open on a Saturday or Sunday, it may not be considered a “business day.” Also, remember that holidays are not business days. If you need a check to clear quickly, it would be best to know your bank's cut-off times.
Deposits are subject to a hold period which could vary from 1 to 15 days. How long does it take for a check to clear if I use a mobile device to make a deposit? The time it takes for the mobile check deposit to clear will vary, depending on when the deposit is made and other factors.
What Happens After the Deposit. If you deposit $10,000 or more in cash at a bank, no one is going to swoop in and put you in handcuffs. Large transactions are perfectly legal. The bank just takes down your identification and uses it to file a form called a Currency Transaction Report, which it sends to the IRS.
The money you can withdraw from your checking account is based upon your available balance and has nothing to do with pending transactions, which are transactions that are currently being processed but not posted (i.e. added or subtracted) to your account.
The most common reason banks put a hold on funds in your account is to ensure that a check clears. Putting it simply, they want to make sure they receive the appropriate funds before these funds are made available to you. However, with larger checks, that might not always be the case.
Most types of checks take about two business days to clear, though some banks and credit unions are speedier (jump to a list of banks that clear checks fast). Usually the first $200 of a check is made available the business day after the bank receives the check. Day of deposit: You deposit a $1,000 check.
