Common causes for slow running Archicad filesPoor library management (how thick does the embedded library need to be?)
Autosave filesIn case of a crash start ARCHICAD using the desktop shortcuts. It will prompt you to recover the project using the available autosave files. The location of this folder can be set under Options/Work Environment/Data Safety and Integrity….
Go to Options > Attribute Manager.Select the layers tab and there is a button to purge unused. Note that AM will consider as used any layer that is the current default tool setting, whether it is actually used or not.
That 'can not read plan' message can mean that you are trying to open a newer version file (say 23) in an older version (say 22). If you open through the FILE menu in Archicad, the open dialogue box will show you the file version when you select it.
In the Properties dialog, select the Poly Reduced option from the pop-up menu and set a number for the Decimation Steps. When you're satisfied with the polygon reduction, click the “Freeze poly-reduced Geometry†button. You will see the graph change color and decrease the polygon count in the ModelPort preview window.
BOXX ARCHICAD recommended hardware includes an overclocked CPU to accelerate 3D modeling and design processes, so the APEXX S3, featuring a professionally overclocked eight-core CPU, effectively supports the multi-threaded background processing capabilities of ARCHICAD and frequency-bound design tasks.

| Recommended configuration |
|---|
| CPU | Intel Core i5AMD Ryzen 5 | Intel Core i9 AMD Ryzen 9 |
| Memory | 8+ GBRAM | 32+ GB RAM |
| Disk | SSD | NVMe SSD |
| Graphics card | 2+ GB VRAM OpenGL 4.5 compatible graphics cards | 6+ GB VRAM OpenGL 4.5 compatible graphics cards |
16 GB RAM seems ok for our rendering needs, but has been a staple for many years, so for future proving, I'd say go for at least 32 GB. SSD is a must. Any halfway decent dedicated GPU should be enough for ArchiCAD.
ArchiCAD will get the job done just as well as Revit, but Revit is a much more efficient and powerful program.
ArchiCAD supports 64-bit. To see the benefits of this, you need at least 8GB of physical RAM. There are times when you will run multiple copies of ArchiCAD or run other applications simultaneously.
It is recommended to install Archicad on a computer with the Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen 9 processor for high-end projects. 32 GB or more of RAM can ensure there are no lags while you work. Windows 10 64-bit or macOS 10.15 computer are recommended for the software to work normally.
Minimum hardware
- Processor: 64-bit processor with two cores.
- RAM: 4 GB.
- Hard disk space: 5 GB or more is required for the installation.
- Graphics card: OpenGL 2.0 compatible graphics card.
- Display: A resolution of 1366 x 768 or higher.
Compatibility notes to ARCHICAD on Windows 7Newer releases of ARCHICAD will be 64-bit only, and will support only 64-bit Operating Systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10. Installation of ARCHICAD 24 or newer is not possible.

- delete unused layers.
- delete unused favorites.
- delete unused materials.
- replace 3d trees with bitmaps.
Select the object and click the Move icon. Use the appearing dialog to browse for a location to which to move the object. Delete the object.
To add a linked library to your solo ARCHICAD project:
- Open Library Manager.
- From the Libraries in Project tab page, click Add, or click Add Linked Library from the Add button's pop-up list. Recent Libraries are also listed: click to Add.
- Browse for the desired folder, select it, then click Choose.
Open the Library manager, press the ADD button and then browse for the LCF file and OK. That should be it and your objects, doors or windows will be ready for use.
You can also reload libraries without closing Library Manager: from the green “Refresh/Reload†icon in Library Manager, choose Reload libraries and apply all changes. All libraries will be reloaded, provided that you have made modifications that necessitate a library reload.
