Morgl can be obtained for free through the Recruit A Friend system. Once a recruited player accumulates a total level of 20, combined between every class, the recruiting player will be awarded Morgl. After unlocking, the player can choose to use Morgl the Oracle in place of Thrall when playing with a shaman deck.
Lady Liadrin can be obtained for free by raising a character to level 20 in World of Warcraft. Note that Lady Liadrin is not awarded retroactively; players who already have one or more characters at or above level 20 in World of Warcraft must still raise a further character to level 20 in order to obtain the hero.
Deathwing is only obtainable by purchasing the Descent of Dragons Mega Bundle, which is only purchasable with real money.
Regular Elise Starseeker is obtained by completing the Hall of Explorers, the fourth wing of The League of Explorers.
Golden Cards in Hearthstone can be obtained from booster packs (more rare than normal cards)and are awarded from placing well (7 or more wins) in a round of Arena Mode. You can also get golden basic cards from advancing high enough with a specific class level, so some are free as leveling rewards.
Golden cards create golden cards. This means that new cards or minions created by a golden card during a game will automatically be the golden version. This includes summon, generate and transform effects. These means are the only way to encounter golden versions of uncollectible cards.
New players start with only the mage class available, and must unlock the others through defeating them in matches in either Practice mode or Play mode. Unlocking all 9 classes also unlocks various other game features: the Arena, adventures, and "Expert" difficulty Practice mode.
When Hearthstone's upcoming Descent of Dragons expansion releases on Dec. 10, players can claim Tyrande through the new in-game store. All they need to do is click the store option, navigate to the alternative heroes tab, and select Tyrande.
Nemsy cannot be purchased, but will be obtained for free by participating in a Fireside Brawl at an established Fireside Tavern Gathering from October 17, 2017 onward.
Sylvanas is in the "Hall of Fame", meaning she is a Wild card and unavailable to acquire outside of crafting. That is literally the only way to get a copy of Sylvanas: spend the 1600 dust. They pulled her out of Classic because she's too good/problematic.
Blizzard announced today that players who participate in a Fireside Gathering (that's what Blizzard calls these local Hearthstone events) starting on October 17 will unlock a new Warlock hero portrait, Nemsy Necrofizzle. You just need at least three players to play a Fireside Brawl at the Gathering.
Mecha-Jaraxxus was only obtainable through pre-purchasing The Boomsday Project Mega Bundle, which is only purchasable with real money. There are currently no plans to allow Mecha-Jaraxxus to be obtained through other means.
These card backs can be obtained at any time by meeting basic requirements.
- Classic. Play Hearthstone!
- Fireside. Visit a Fireside Gathering.
- Legend. Reach Legend Rank.
- Mark of Hakkar. Play against someone with this Card Back.
- Random. Allows you to play with a Random Card Back.
In order to change it, you will need to head to your Collection. In the top right corner, you can find two buttons - one to change your hero [add link] and one to change your card back. Click the button and select the card back you want to use by right-clickig it. This will open the card back.
