The most common way to insert a tick symbol in Excel isthis:
- Select a cell where you want to insert a checkmark.
- Go to the Insert tab > Symbols group, and click Symbol.
- In the Symbol dialog box, on the Symbols tab, click thedrop-down arrow next to the Font box, and select Wingdings.

- Input Alt code of symbol on Keypad.
- Release all the keys.
On windows, hold down [Alt] while typing "0176" on thenumeric keypad.
- Click to place the cursor at the point where you want to inserta degree symbol.
- Click the "Insert" tab on the ribbon.
- Click the "Symbol" button in the Symbols section to open theSymbol dialog box.
- Click the "From" drop-down arrow and then select "ASCII(decimal)."
- Click "Insert" and then click "Close."
