To gain access to The Reckoning, you'll need to complete a match of Gambit Prime. Once you've done so, you'll want to head back to The Drifter and he'll give you a Weak Synthesizer item which'll go straight into your inventory.
Perhaps the biggest change comes in the removal of Gambit Prime and Gambit as separate modes. Now, there is a single Gambit mode that is essentially just Gambit Prime but with the original Gambit boss fight. The update also refreshes Crucible's featured modes and increases the Power requirement for Trials of Osiris.
The new Gambit looks to mostly echo Gambit Prime, the one-round version of the PvEvP mode Bungie added in Season of the Drifter. But players will no longer have access to the Gambit Prime's armor perks, so the studio is toning the mode down a bit.
You can see the Collector Synth in the Consumables section of your inventory in Destiny 2. Basically, the Collector Synth, like the Invader Synth and the Sentry Synth can be used to create special motes. These motes can then be used inside of The Reckoning's bank to create an activity.
Synths have two functions: The first is to grant points based on a specific Gambit Prime role. Perks for that role can be unlocked when reaching specific point thresholds, and Synths offer a boost to get over a desired threshold. Synths are also wagered in the new Reckoning PvE mode.
Synthcord is the second resource that players will need in this process, and can be obtained by getting bounties from Ada-1. To get these Bounties, players will need to trade 150 Synthstrand to Ada-1. Synthstrand is a random drop that can be earned by killing enemies in the game.
Reaper does not have built-in instruments. It has very basic synth and sampler plugins, but these are not full-featured instruments like those in Cubase, Logic Pro, Pro Tools and similar DAWs. In addition, there are many excellent freeware instruments available for no cost that can be used with Reaper.

It is doing the 8 Gambit bounties for Powerful a week. Drifter than gives you a Gambit Prime engram that can contain a piece of the Gambit armor. Once you have a piece "unlocked" you can buy other copies from Drifter that might have a different roll than what you got.
Gambit Prime armor is a set designed for Gambit and Gambit Prime but only available through The Reckoning. This is a new PVE activity that players can complete with a squad of up to four players. Players can unlock one piece of Gambit Prime armor at a time for each succesful completion of The Reckoning.
To unlock The Reckoning you'll need to complete a match of Gambit Prime. This is a concentrated, very competitive version of the PvPvE mode. Distilled into a single round, players will have to compete against tougher foes and will need to bank 100 motes to summon a boss.
To unlock Gambit Prime, you'll need to go speak with the Drifter in The Tower. After you talk to the Drifter he will unlock the Gambit Prime mode and let you go play it. You'll obtain a quest as well from the Drifter. Currently, only one of the new maps – New Arcadia – is available.
