Dogs are only permitted on Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach before 9:00 a.m. or after 5:00 p.m. Dogs must be on a leash and have a current rabies tag. Dog owners must clean up after their dogs. Dogs are allowed anytime on Atlantic Beach, but must also be on a leash no more than 12 feet long.
Ormond Beach has a leash law in place. This means that animals must be on a leash or humanely secured when outside the home. No person shall harbor a cat or dog six (6) months of age or older within the City of Ormond Beach that has not been spayed or neutered, unless such person holds an unaltered animal permit.
North Myrtle Beach Dog Rules:Your dog must be on a leash at all times while in public. Dogs are allowed on the beach at any time of day between September 16 through May 14. Dogs are prohibited on the beach between 9 AM and 5 PM from May 15 through September 15.

St. Augustine's beaches stretch from Vilano Beach north of the city to Crescent Beach in the south. Keep in mind that no alcohol or glass is allowed on the beach itself.
Augustine beaches were de-segregated by law at the time, the reality was different, with Butler Beach, where blacks were permitted, sandwiched between the "whites only" beaches of St. Lifeguards are staffed on the beach seasonally. State law currently keeps local governments from regulating smoking. A 2012 court ruling nullified Sarasota County's ban on smoking at parks and beaches. If the state law does go into effect, George said she could see a potential problem with enforcement at St. Augustine Beach.
Alcohol and disposable cups are prohibited on the beach. Please leave only footprints behind; use only paper products on the beach, and dispose of them in the trash cans which are posted conveniently throughout the length of the beach.
Do not leave anything on the beach overnight. This includes tents, chairs, catamarans, trailers and personal items. Use designated walkovers to cross dunes. Do not remove beach sand or vegetation.

Vehicles are allowed to drive no faster than 10 mph on the beach. Traffic is southbound only between A street Ramp and Crescent Beach Ramp. Two way Traffic is permitted between Crescent Beach and Fort Matanzas Ramp. All vehicles are required to stop at all beach ramps and yield to all pedestrians.
St. Augustine – A good choice for shaded yards, but not for yards with high traffic from dogs. Perennial rye – This type of grass is highly tolerant of dog urine, and is also hardy even with lots of foot traffic from people and pets.

Pets are not allowed inside the structure of the Castillo de San Marcos though they are allowed in the exterior areas of the park. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times.
Permitted dogs will be allowed on County beaches between the times of 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. 365 days a year. Svehla said the times are in line with when most people want to take their dogs to the beach, but that they are also set up for safety.
However, if too much sand is ingested it can lead to sand impaction. This is when the sand causes a blockage in the intestines. If your pup is vomiting, seems to be constipated, has abdominal pain, loss of appetite, or lethargy after a visit to the beach, it may indicate sand has been ingested.
Without access to water and shade, dogs can develop heatstroke at the beach. If the sand is particularly hot, your dog's pads can burn and blister. Wet rocks and moss are very slippery, and your dog can cut their pads on sharp rocks and/or oyster shells at the beach.
How old should puppy be before beach trip? Your puppy is old enough to go the beach around two weeks after its final vaccinations. If you go earlier there is risk they might be around unvaccinated or sick dogs. A common virus your puppy could catch if not immune is Parvo.

Consuming large amounts of salt water, however, can be fatal. When a dog ingests salt water, the excess salt draws water from the blood into the intestines, leading to diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration. Salt water also disrupts the fluid balance in your dog.
Can puppies go to the beach? It is ok take a puppy to the beach but providing they have had their shots and vaccinations. Vets typically recommend you wait 10-14 days (approximately two weeks) after your puppy's latest vaccination booster. At this stage, they are usually around 16 weeks or 4 months old.
Dogs who visit the beach are in danger of what veterinarians call intestinal sand impaction. This condition can make dogs very sick and is potential life-threatening, typically requiring emergency veterinary intervention.
