Who Is A Good Candidate? Good candidates for isotretinoin are people who have not had success with other acne medications. Your dermatologist may prescribe medications such as salicylic acid or erythromycin if you have not already used them. If none of those clear your acne, it may be time to try isotretinoin.
For the child with severe nodular acne that could leave scars, Accutane could be a good option, but your child should be well supervised as he or she takes it. Make sure to talk to your pediatrician, especially if your child does begin having any side effects. Dealing with acne can be frustrating.
