In this category, Google Docs easily wins becauseyou just can't beat free. In essence, Google Docs is aslightly less feature-rich word processor, but when youconsider it's completely free, it more than makes up for it.Microsoft Word, on the other hand, is not free.

Another way to use Google Docs offline comes viathe dedicated Google Drive app. This is available fordesktop devices for Windows and Mac, as well as for Android and iOSon mobile. When installed, you can access all yourDrive files — not just documents — through anExplorer window on Windows, or the Finder onMac.
You can use Google Docs to open and editMicrosoft Word documents. You can even download yourGoogle doc as a Word document so it has a standardWord extension (.docx). You can open PDFs inWord on your desktop, edit them, and then save them as PDFsagain; you can't do this in Google Docs.

Purpose. Google Docs is a very powerfulreal-time collaboration and document authoring tool. Multiple userscan edit a document at the same time, while seeing each others'changes instantaneously. Users can produce text documents, slidepresentations, spreadsheets, drawings, and surveys.
From Google Drive, locate and select the Newbutton, then choose the type of file you want to create. Inour example, we'll select Google Docs to create a newdocument. Your new file will appear in a new tab on your browser.Locate and select Untitled document in the upper-leftcorner.
It opens a new Google Docs offline tab in Chrome.Bookmark this page so you can access it in Chrome when you arewithout the Internet. Google Docs offline shows youonly Documents and Spreadsheets; Presentations, Drawings,and Forms don't make the jump. And you can edit Documents but canonly view Spreadsheets.
To create a new blank document:
- Click the Microsoft Office button.
- Select New. The New Document dialog box appears.
- Select Blank document under the Blank and recent section. Itwill be highlighted by default.
- Click Create. A new blank document appears in the Wordwindow.
Instead of being required to have aGmail account, users only need a Googleaccount. Users can set up Google accounts withany email address. This allows you to accessany of the products that Google offers for free, such asDocs, Adsense and Webmaster Tools.
Here are the basic steps:
- Open the PDF file in Google Drive. From a Gmail account or anyother Google app, click on the Google Apps icon.
- Right-mouse click on the PDF file in Google Drive, and open thefile in Google Docs.
- Download the file as a Microsoft Word (.docx) formattedfile.
Step 1: Go to your Google drive and log in toyour account. Once inside, click on "Upload" icon to upload fileson to your account. This will allow you to browse for thePDF file on your computer. Step 2: Once the file had beenuploaded, right click on it and then select "Open With >Google Docs".
Download a copy of a file
- On your computer, open a Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, or Formshome screen.
- Open a document, spreadsheet, or presentation.
- At the top, click File Download as.
- Choose a file type. The file will download onto yourcomputer.
Method 1On Desktop
- Select a document. Click the document you want to download toopen it in your browser.
- Click File. This option is in the upper-left side of thepage.
- Select Download as. It's in the File drop-down menu.
- Click a format. In the pop-out menu, click one of the fileformats to select it.
Steps
- Double-click the folder you want to copy.
- Select all the documents.
- Right-click on any file and select Make a Copy.
- Right-click on any of the selected files and click Moveto.
- Navigate to the location you want to create a new folder.
- Click the New Folder icon.
- Type a new folder name and click ✓.
- Click Move Here.

- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Driveapp.
- Next to the file's name, tap More Download.
