The point is, a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve is super rare and the vast majority of people will go their entire lives without sampling any. That kind of makes sense though, as their normal retail price of between $80 and $250 is high enough to prevent a lot of people from partaking.
Special Reserve is hands down one of the easiest bourbons to drink. It's not incredibly deep in palate, but its incredibly smooth at 90 proof and sweet to the tongue. I've always found the 12 Year to be an interesting mix of sweet and dry.

Overall Thoughts: This has always been my favorite Van Winkle bourbon and after this recent tasting, it remains that way. It has aspects of all of the other Van Winkle bourbons in a single package. It's nose is by far the best out of the bunch.
