The Navy's special operators are preparing to part with the Sig Sauer P228 and adopt the Glock 19 as their sidearm. While SEALs have long carried the P226, the more compact P228 has been a staple among Naval Special Warfare Combatant Craft crew.

You probably could fire a 9mm round in a 357 Sig pistol, but the case will either be severly bulged or ruptured and accuracy is likely to be poor. A pistol chambered in 357 Sig can likely be converted to fire 9mm by replacing the barrel, slide, recoil spring and possibly the magazine.

For a bear cartridge anything equal to or more powerful than a . 41 Magnum or . 44 Magnum will be fine. 357 Magnum or other similar-caliber load, a well-placed shot with a good bullet will certainly kill a bear, but it's not recommended.
40 Caliber is a diameter of a bullet.. as that is the case, 40 Caliber projectiles are used in a few chamberings. For example.. 40 sw is approximately the same energy as most 357 mag loads.. about 450–500 ft lbs. 10mm, in it's hariest loadings, is slight stronger than 357 mags hottest loads.
For those that prefer the . 357 Sig's high velocity, flatter trajectory and greater power, there's the Glock 31.
The Glock 25 was introduced in Germany in 1995. It is a semi-automatic handgun created for South American civilians for defense because they could not legally carry military caliber weapons. 380 caliber bullet, making it legal to use in South America and, ironically, illegal to import to civilians in the United States.
9mm always has higher magazine capacity than . 40 S&W, provided you're comparing two guns of the same size. So, in almost any context, a 9mm handgun enables you to perform better than . 40 S&W.

357 Sig is dying. The known number of issuing agencies, however, is not known. But, it seems as if the main argument as to why they seem to be in decline in an official capacity is not because of a lack of effectiveness, but because . 357 SIG is not cost efficient.
The Glock 38 has been in production for more than 10 years. For law enforcement officers, it is a compact handgun that fires a cartridge with a “4” in its name. This is a midsized gun, with a 4.01-inch barrel, weighing 26.83 ounces. The Glock 38 shares the same form factor as other models.
But what about semi-auto pistols chambered in . 357? But there are at least two semi-automatics that have gone into full production. One is the beefy gas piston operated Desert Eagle pistol, which is currently manufactured by Magnum Research here in the United States.
357 SIG is a perfectly viable cartridge. It was adopted by several law-enforcement agencies, with rather good results. The . 357 SIG has a good balance of velocity, bullet weight and terminal ballistics, however there are some who find the recoil level and muzzle blast of the SIG to be more than acceptable.
They'll work. You gotta think there's a reason the followers are different. If it really didn't matter, Glock is going through an unnecessary amount of trouble to make different mags, instead of just making one, such as my Sig P226 mags that say “. 40/357” on the mag tube.
