Bobcat kittens are usually much larger for their age than house cat kittens, though this can get murky in our area, where bobcats are fairly small. Actual bobcat kittens always have spots. These may be faint freckle-like spots, leopard-like rosettes, or bold polka dots, but they will always be present in some form.Sep 22, 2019

A bobtail kitten is born with either a kinked, shortened, knotted or pom-pom tail. Instances of these little furbabies happen all around the world, although they are usually born in parts of Russia and Asia. This mutation has developed as a result of an isolation in the gene pool.
Urban legend says that Bobtails are the result of a cross breeding between a domestic tabby cat and a wild bobcat. The unusual tail is actually the result of a random spontaneous genetic mutation within the domestic cat population, and may be related to the Manx gene, which is also dominant.
Kinked tails are very common in dogs and cats. Kinked tails generally are harmless. Tails most often become kinked when they are traumatized. If a bone segment in the tail is broken or if two segments are dislocated, the tail becomes crooked. Many types of injury can lead to kinked tails.Jun 22, 2019

Although rare, cats with curly tails do exist, and this adorable feature is nothing to worry about. It causes them no harm and is just the result of a genetic mutation causing their tail to flop over and curl up. The degree of curliness can be anything from a slight kink to a corkscrew curl.Mar 15, 2021
