Importance of agriculture in the Food supply
Agriculture is the world's leading source of food items. Agriculture produces vegetables, proteins, and oils. The carbohydrates provide all living beings with energy. These are produced in the form of grains that grow in farms such as rice, wheat, and potatoes.Agriculture is practiced for the purpose of producing food and other human needs such as clothing, shelter, medicines, weapons, tools, ornaments, and indefinitely many more including livestock feed. It is likewise practiced as a business for economic gain.

Agricultural sciences, sciences dealing with food and fibre production and processing. They include the technologies of soil cultivation, crop cultivation and harvesting, animal production, and the processing of plant and animal products for human consumption and use. Food is the most basic human need.
For centuries, humans have used science to improve soil productivity and crop yields. The last century has seen huge changes in farming practices. For example, the use of fertilisers and irrigation along with improved plant and animal breeding have made it possible to increase the amount of product a farm can produce.
Agriculture is a big industry, and most of the careers are related to science and/or business. But, students also need to study economics and business management at the undergraduate level. With a degree in agricultural science, you can have careers in the agricultural sector.
