Under the Work Programme the task of getting the long-term unemployed into work was outsourced to a range of public sector, private sector and third sector organisations. DWP staff were notified that, as of February 2017, new referrals to the Work Programme are discontinued. It was officially stopped on 1 April 2017.
Cal-Learn is a statewide program for pregnant and parenting teens in the California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program. Intensive case management assists teen parents to obtain education, health and social services. CalWORKs HA can provide payments for temporary shelter for up to 16 days, as well as payments to secure or maintain housing, including a security deposit and last month's rent, or up to two months of rent arrearages. The maximum benefit chart shows that the most a family like this can get would be $1,060 a month. The county subtracts the family's $387.50 in countable income from the $1,060 and figures out that the family gets $672.50 per month from CalWORKs.
To be eligible for California CalWORKs, you must be a resident of California, and a U.S. citizen, legal alien or qualified alien. You must be unemployed or underemployed and have low or very low income. You must also be one of the following: Have a child 18 years of age or younger, or.
If the benefit is going to a single individual, note the maximum is $735 per month. Couples can receive $1103 per month, and there are also values for eligible individuals that will generally be a few hundred dollars.
You can work and still get CalWORKs cash aid as long as you are low income and remain eligible. When you add your earnings to your cash aid, you will have more $$$ for your family.
You will not have to pay back your CalWorks grant. Child support goes first to pay back the grant and then to the custodial parent (meaning the one with custody).

Net income, or household income after deductions are applied, must be at or below the poverty line.
