Students at U of M are typically stereotyped as intelligent, open-minded, and well-balanced individuals. This is definitely true! All of the students I have met at the University of Michigan are extremely smart and passionate about their chosen field of study.
Harvard is lackluster and the parties aren't as fun as the ones at the state schools their friends attend. There are a number of real obstacles to creating the most vibrant social scene possible at Harvard. There are no large, off-campus bars or similar spaces catered to college students' nights out.

In my opinion, the best dorms are West Quad/South Quad due to great location, excellent rooms, and South Quad's newly renovated dining hall which is top notch. You also get to live with a lot of athletes, which can be cool. The problem is that it can be hard to get rooms here as a freshman.
First-year students are placed throughout most residence halls, except North Quad and Stockwell Hall. A high percentage of new students are on North Campus.
