The actor, who grew up in Dundee, now lives in Birmingham - where Dalziel and Pascoe was filmed, raising his two daughters Kira and Maya whom he shares with ex wife Kim.
Although set chiefly in Yorkshire, it was filmed in Birmingham.
David retired from acting after he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, in 2006. By the time we started talking, he had cycled through various mobility aids and was confined to a wheelchair.
Filming Locations: The castle and zoo were Dudley Zoo in the Midlands. The stately home was Arbury Hall, in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

Published in 1990, the novella is set in the year 2010, and is a whodunit focused around the killing of a French astronaut from the "Federated States of Europe", which requires the attentions of the long-retired Dalziel and Pascoe.
' Court documents show his estate was to be left to his children Georgia and Rowan in the event of Michele's death. His watches were left to his only son Rowan. He died in his sleep after a short illness in November 2014.
Dalziel & Pascoe – Based on the Reginald Hill mystery novels by the same name, this show was popular enough to last for 12 series. However, it's not on Acorn. It used to be available on PBS via Masterpiece Mysteries, but today you'll have to settle for DVDS (although Series 1 & 2 can be streamed from Amazon).

As the show is a mini-series, it has not yet confirmed if it will return for a second season. The entire first season focuses on what happened to Wall, reaching a satisfying conclusion in its final episode. Therefore, if it were to continue it would likely have to be focused on a new real-life criminal case.
Season 3 is an anticipated third season of The InBESTigators. It will probably be released first on ABC Me in Australia and Netflix worldwide in 2021, due to the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic.
