The term “large envelopes” (also known as flat mail) refers to First-Class Mail sent in envelopes that exceed either 6?″ in height, 11½″ in width, or ¼″ in thickness. The USPS considers any envelope bigger than this size to be a package, and will be subject to parcel prices.
Customers must affix additional postage when mailing letters weighing in excess of 1 ounce and/or letters subject to the nonmachinable surcharge or mailpieces subject to another rate of postage (e.g., large envelopes or packages).
A rectangular 5×7 envelope is the standard size that is used in the United States for mailing letters and invitations, so if your envelopes are within the weight range of 1 oz, then you will only need to pay $. 47 for each one without any additional charge.

Only things that are thin, flat and bendable such as paper, plastic or fabric should go in a letter envelope and that is only if the seller is willing to give up Delivery Confirmation that is needed to win an Item Not Received case. Using a bubble envelope with First Class Package postage is a much better choice.
Yes, you can mail a key. Do not just put it in a regular envelope though, or it will tear through and become lost. Tape the key to a piece of stiff cardboard and insert it in a padded mailer. Note that it will cost a bit more to mail, but it should withstand normal handling and be delivered to its destination intact.
Objects are not allowed in letter envelopes because the machines will destroy them. The empty torn envelope may get delivered but the destroyed metal (medal?) will have become separated and not be with it. Use a bubble envelope for objects and the postage will be several times a letter.
To send candy through the mail place it in a box, label it with the addressee and return address information, and take it to your local post office to have the proper postage applied.
United States Postal Service Registered Mail is a very secure method for transporting items of value such as coins. Registered Mail is suitable for mailing up to $25,000.00 per package.
