The Ocean City Boardwalk is three miles long and perfect for a morning bike ride or an evening stroll. Whether during the off-season or at the height of summer there's always something going on along the boardwalk.
Adding to Ocean City's family image is the fact that it's a “dry” town, meaning there is no alcohol of any kind sold within its borders. However, alcohol is available in nearby Strathmere.
On this free beach, you can enjoy swimming and fishing. Between Ocean City and Sea Isle City, you'll find Strathmere, offering a low-key, off-the-beaten path beach experience – for free! While there's no boardwalk, visitors can enjoy the natural splendor of this oceanfront escape.
Beach Tags are required for all beachgoers ages 12 and older and will be in effect through Sept. 7 in 2020. Seasonal tags cost $25. Weekly tags ($10) will be available at the locations above (except the Knight Building), at booths on the boardwalk, and from tag inspectors on the beach.
Ocean City now extends just more than 9 mi (14 km) from the southern inlet to the Delaware line. The strip now supports hotels, motels, apartment houses, shopping centers, residential communities, and condominiums. The southern tip houses the Ocean City Boardwalk.
Most people consider the Boardwalk to start at the inlet and end at 27th Street.
