First, Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. Click the Bookmarks button (or > Bookmarks) and select Show All Bookmarks. At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
Click the Firefox button and then Bookmarks. Or simply use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+B to open the Bookmarks Library. Click Import and Backup >> Restore. Then select the most recent bookmarks backup, or click Choose File to select a an older backup file – which is located in the directory shown above.
The location of the file is in your user directory in the path "AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault." If you want to modify or delete the bookmarks file for some reason, you should exit Google Chrome first. Then you can modify or delete both the "Bookmarks" and "Bookmarks. bak" files.

In Mozilla Suite/SeaMonkey and and in Firefox 2 and below, bookmarks are stored in the file "bookmarks.html" located in the profile folder. (There is also a file called "bookmarks.html" in the program folder, but this one is a template, and does not hold your bookmarks.).
After uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox on your computer, click the “Import and Backup” button on the Firefox Library, and then select “Import Bookmarks from HTML.” Select the bookmarks HTML file from your hard drive, and then click “Open” to import the bookmarks to Firefox.
Backup and restore

- In the Bookmarks backup filename window that opens, choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks-"date".json by default.
- Save the bookmarks json file.

- On the left, click Export bookmarks.
- At the top right, click More .
- Select Bookmarks Import Bookmarks and Settings.
- From the drop-down menu, select Bookmarks HTML file.
- Select Choose File.
How To Create and Manage Multiple Profiles in Firefox
- Type firefox.exe -p to open Mozilla Firefox Profile Manager.
- It will show you all the profiles for Firefox.
- Type the name of the new profile and click Finish.
- By default, Firefox will ask you which profile you want to use each time you launch Firefox.
The AppData folder resides in your user folder—the same location that contains Documents, Music, and other library folders (unless you've moved them elsewhere). Normally this is something such as C:Users[username]AppData, but unlike those other folders, AppData is hidden, which means you can't normally see it.
To restore this data: On the desktop you should see a folder called 'Old Firefox Data' open it and copy all the data by highlighting and selecting everything in that folder, then right click and select copy. Now open FIrefox. Head on over to about:profiles by typing it in your URL bar.
Restoring a profile backup
- Click the menu button and then click ExitQuit . Click the Firefox menu , then click Exit.
- If your existing profile folder and profile backup folder have the same name, simply replace the existing profile folder with the profile backup, then start Firefox.
A profile in Firefox is the collection of settings, customizations, add-ons, and other personalizations that a user has made or installed into their copy of Firefox. You can find details about profiles on Mozilla's end-user support site.
Import a bookmarks file
- In the Safari app on your Mac, choose File > Import From > Bookmarks HTML File.
- Select the file you want to import. After you import bookmarks, they appear at the bottom of the sidebar in a new folder whose name begins with “Imported” and ends with the date.
Safari bookmarks are all stored in a file called Bookmarks.plist, which is located at ~/Library/Safari/. To get to this file in the Finder, choose Home from the Go menu. Open the Library folder, then open the Safari folder.
Import Firefox bookmarks to Safari
On the menu bar, select File>Import From>Bookmarks HTML File, and then select the Firefox bookmarks you just exported. Note: You can also directly select Google Chrome or Firefox to directly import bookmarks from Firefox to Safari without doing Step 1.Hold down CTRL + SHIFT+B to open bookmarks menu, or from the Bookmarks menu select Show all Bookmarks.
Bookmarks are stored in /data/data/<package name>/files/mozilla/<profile folder>/browser. db, where <package name> = org. mozilla. firefox for the release version, org.
Windows 10, 8, 7 & Vista:
C:Users<YOUR_USERNAME>AppDataLocalGoogleChromeUser DataDefault.By default, in Windows 7, Favorites for Internet Explorer are saved in the C:Users[username]Favorites folder. However, you may want them in a different location so they are easier to backup or even on a drive where Windows is not installed.
To turn on the Menu bar or Bookmarks toolbar:
- Click the menu button and choose Customize.
- Click the Show / Hide ToolbarsToolbars dropdown menu at the bottom of the screen and choose the items you want to display.
- Click the green Exit Customize button.
