Think about how much you're willing to chop off and grow your hair until you have enough to donate—typically at least eight inches. You should also consider your hair texture and discuss with your stylist before settling on a cut.

There are a limited number of places that will accept donated hair, so be sure to contact one prior to having yours cut. A few options are Chai Lifeline Canada, Angel Hair for Kids, and CanDonate Hair Foundation (Quebec).
Hair Donation Criteria:
- Hair should be a minimum of 10 inches in length.
- Hair should be tied at the top (ponytail) not braided.
- Hair should not be dyed, permed or chemically treated.
- Grey hair is accepted.
- Do not straighten hair – wash and dry please.

The Little Princess Trust accept hair donations from people wanting their hair to be used to help children who have hair loss due to cancer treatment or other causes. Your hair has to be at least 7 inches. They ask that you grow it longer (for example, 12 inches) if you can.
We have placed dedicated hair collection boxes in our 23 locations across the UAE where you can donate hair. You can also get a free haircut and 30% discount on hair color services when donating hair for this noble cause.”
Hair that is coloured or permed is still acceptable. For Canadian listings of places to donate hair, check out the Canadian Cancer Society's page here. Pantene Pro V also runs the Beautiful Lengths program that creates wigs for cancer patients.
How to donate: Visit any KidSnips location on a weekday and they will cut your child's hair, send in the donation and restyle their hair for free. KidSnips will also give each donor a Wigs For Kids certificate to commemorate the occasion.
Wigs are free, and children also receive the products, brushes, towels and instruction needed to care for them. Children get to pick the color and length of their custom-fitted hairpieces, up to 14 inches, and each wig is cut and styled on the child's head.
Wigs are available on the NHS, but you will be charged for them unless you qualify for help with charges.
The following requirements are common:
- Hair must be a certain length. Most organizations require the ponytail to be longer than 8-12 inches.
- Hair must be clean and dry before cutting. Don't use any hair products after washing your hair before cutting it.
- Have the supplies ready.
