For the purpose of redeeming rewards, one New Zealand Dollar is equivalent to one Airpoints Dollar. Different conversion rates apply for members residing in Australia and Norfolk Island.
You can make a claim up to six months after your flight or purchase, if you were an Airpoints member at the time of travel or purchase.
When shopping instore at any New World supermarket throughout New Zealand, your Clubcard, Airpoints card or your digital Airpoints card in the Air NZ mobile app can be used to earn Airpoints Dollars.
You can earn Airpoints Dollars in three easy ways, so rewards are never far away:

Transferring Airpoints Dollars™ to another member's account is not allowed under the Airpoints™ Programme. However, you can gift rewards to anyone who lives at the same address as you do by adding them to your Gifting Register.
Spend. Airpoints Dollars can be spent on flights with Air New Zealand, as well as partner and Star Alliance airlines. You can also use them at our online Airpoints™ store to get yourself a treat, to pay for rental cars, holidays, a Koru membership, wine and a range of Air New Zealand merchandise.
If your international journey includes a domestic New Zealand Add-on, Airpoints Dollar earning rates vary by the fare class of that domestic flight as follows; P, K, X, G, S, L, T, W and V is 4.00 Airpoints Dollars, Q, H, M, B and Y is 8.00 Airpoints Dollars, A, O, E, U, J, Z, D and C is 9.00 Airpoints Dollars.
When booking online: Simply sign in to your online account with your Airpoints™ details before or while you are booking your flight and select to pay with Airpoints Dollars at the payment stage. When booking by phone: Have your Airpoints number ready when you call our contact centre.
Purchasing a flight for someone else is just as easy as purchasing for yourself. You can purchase flights for someone else by doing the following: You will be taken to the airline or travel partner that is offering this flight. Insert the proper passenger information.
Many cheaper tickets are sold on condition that they cannot be refunded or be used by anyone but the person in whose name they were bought. "It is against Air New Zealand's policy for a passenger to travel under someone else's name."
Flybuys and Airpoints are two separate loyalty programmes and there are no links between them.

Harvey Norman and Noel Leeming are two of New Zealand's largest electronics retailers, and they both offer an ability to earn points on spend. You can earn 1 Airpoints Dollar for every $200 you spend at Harvey Norman. The standard Fly Buys earn rate at Noel Leeming falls short in comparison.
You can use your credit to purchase any Air New Zealand fares, including when another airline is involved. You can also use an existing credit to pay for a flight change, purchasing seats, bags or upgrading an existing booking. Credits cannot be used to purchase other travel products such as hotels or rental cars.
