For boys in America, football is by far the most popular sport. When looking at high school sports stats, it's the most popular high school sport in 43 states, and more than one million boys participated in the 2018-19 school year. Track and field is also popular among boys, with 605,354 participants.
On November 3, 2016, Danaher's Calallen Wildcats defeated the Flour Bluff Hornets 31–7 in the District 30-5A InterZone Championship game, giving Danaher his 427th win, making him the winningest coach in Texas High School football history.

Katy High School's nine state championships overall are the second-most in University Interscholastic League football history, trailing only Aledo, which won its tenth last season. (Katy competes in Conference 6A, the level for the state's largest high schools, while Aledo plays in 5A, Division II.)
Dillon is a ghost town in Hopkins County, Texas, located 30 miles east of Miller Grove near Saltillo, Texas. The town was named after E. F. The post office closed in 1906, and in the mid-1930s the town disappeared from highway maps.
According to Dave Campbell's, the state six-man single game rushing record is held by Paint Rock's Tony Diaz, who had 621 yards in 2010. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, Rudy Rudison from Houston Marian Christian holds the private school state record with 599 yards in 1978.
Irving MacArthur notched a win on the victory belt after defeating Richardson 41-21 in a Texas high school football matchup. Defense muted both offenses in scoreless first and third quarters. Irving MacArthur's offense moved to a 28-14 lead over Richardson at the intermission.
Carter High School in Dallas, a team that fought through racial prejudice and a grades controversy to claim the 5A state title, only to be rocked when six of their players were involved in an armed robbery and the grades issue stripped them of their title.
The Aledo Bearcats made history in the Class 5A Division II state championship. The Bearcats capped a perfect 16-0 season with a 55-19 victory against Fort Bend Marshall at AT&T Stadium. With the victory, the Bearcats tied a state record with their 8th state championship.
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida) is the 2020-2021 High School Football America national champ after finishing last fall with a perfect 8-0 record.
