Atticus Freeman - George's nephew and possible son, who he shared a love of pulp fiction books with. When Tic was enrolled in the army, he would write George of his journey.
When they traveled back in time, they retrieved it before it could be burned; Hattie explained to Leti that it had been bound for the protection of the family. Dora, Atticus's mother, is the next in their lineage and is aware that her son must die in order to save everyone from Christina.
The Season 1 story reaches its climax when the powerful white sorceress Christina (Abbey Lee Kershaw) uses a ritual sacrifice to kill Atticus to harness his magic and become immortal. Majors notes that this actually was about Atticus sacrificing himself, not Christina murdering him.
Yes, Atticus does die in Lovecraft Country's final episode.
Throughout the season we've seen the effects of racial othering, but now knowing what we know about Montrose, he's dealing with otherness on two fronts as a Black man who is also queer. On the surface, Montrose kills Yahima in order to prevent them from helping Tic translate the book of names.
It might be hard to keep track of, because so much happened in Epiosde 2—namely Atticus turning Samuel and the rest of the Sons of Adam into dust and the entire Ardham manor collapsing. But earlier in the episode, Leti and Uncle George both got shot by Samuel after the the whole gang tried to escape.
In the final scene of the episode, Diana and her new bionic arm find Christina in the rubble caused by the energy from the spell and kills her. At the very least, it seems that Season 2 of the show will have a new villain. Lovecraft Country is streaming now on HBO Max.
Leti's HouseThe extravagant Winthrop House that Leti buys and rents out with her inheritance money in episode three is supposed to be located in the predominantly white North Side of Chicago, but the actual address is 155 Greenville Street in Atlanta, Georgia.
Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) met his end via a gunshot wound to the abdomen that was worsened by him racing to safety after the lodge—which was discovered by Atticus "Tic" (Jonathan Majors), Leticia (Jurnee Smollett) "Leti", and George at the end of episode 1, "Sundown"—crumbled into rubble.
With Atticus revealed as a direct descendant of the cult's sinister founder Titus Braithwaite, Tic was lured by the cult to Ardham and the Braithwaite Estate by his kidnaped father Montrose Freeman before being coerced to participate in an occult ritual to open a portal to Eden fueled by his blood.
